so as we hear and see the sadness, uncertainty, rumors and finger pointing around us,we also see and hear about our amazing doctors, nurses, health care workers, first responders, emt's,and other essential people risking their lives day in and day out on the front lines to protect and save others against this insidious corona virus. Some people have no idea what's really going on in the hospitals. The long island volunteer fireman's benevolent wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude to those real heroes,We have to give credit where credit is due.Thank you from all of us. Unfortunately, this pandemic is not over yet and further health and economic problems could still lay ahead for many volunteers and their families. This is where benevolents will have to do their part.Remember what your charter states."CARE AID AND RELIEF OF INDIGENT FIREMEN AND THEIR FAMILIES."So what does that mean? For those in need we should do the right thing. That does'nt mean writing a check for every member if they don't need it.You should handle every request on an individual basis.Don't allow a crisis to give an opportunity to the opportunists for the wrong reasons.Think need not greed.Remember your fiduciary responsibility to your members and your organization.
